July 2022

Time passes quickly when you are having fun, and many months have passed since I last made an entry here. It has been enjoyable and hard work preparing for the Blackwood Art Show, and working with a new committee at the Marion Art Group to get us off to a good start to the year.

MAG news: We started later than usual in March. We are running a ‘rolling’ exhibition, 6 members at a time for 6 weeks in the Marino Community Hall Cafe, ‘Brews and Views’. A few sales add to the satisfaction of a constantly changing feast of images for local patrons to enjoy. We are now just about to have our midyear morning tea/Favourite Artwork Display inside the hall. We are planning to have our first Shopping Centre Exhibition in 3 years at Brighton Central Shopping Centre in October. That pesky virus has a lot to answer for!! Anyway a group of about 30 MAG artists are looking forward to this much anticipated event.

The Blackwood Rotary Art show: is on at Blackwood High School during the school holidays between 10 am – 4pm each day of Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th and then Thursday 21st to Saturday 23rd July. It is always a nice medium sized Rotary Art Show, well curated and well lit. I had a great success there last year ( see previous blogs) and hopeful I can sell again this year.

Below is a spin-off tiny 9 x 5 inch piece that was based on some of my paintings from last year at the Blackwood Show. It was sent off to a Country NSW 9 x 5 Exhibition but returned when unsold. Definitely overpriced!!!!! Also my grandson has now become a subject for my attention as an artist!
